The Destination Project is placing an emphasis on creating rooms with a view.
As part of The Hub design option that was chosen by the U of L’s Board of Governors, the new building will be purpose-built to include a great number of exterior and interior windows. That decision was made for two reasons: so researchers can see outside their state-of-the-art laboratories, and equally important, so others can watch the work underway inside.
“The building itself will make evident its own workings,” says Bruce Kuwabara, one of the lead architects on the project. “Some of the intricacies of design and mechanics will be visible to the public, serving as a shining example of science on display.”
